10/13 Recap: Pu ends drought; Osmanski tallies

Cliff Pu ended his seven-game goal drought Friday with his first of the year as London dropped a 2-1 decision to Windsor.


The power play marker gives Pu four points through the first eight games of the season. He had five goals and 14 points last season through his first eight contests.

In the QMJHL, Vasily Glotov connected for his second goal of the year as Shawinigan doubled Victoriaville 6-3.


Through nine games, Glotov has two goals, four points and 33 shots on goal.

Defenseman Austin Osmanski scored his first goal of the year and fifth of his OHL career as Peterborough posted a 3-2 shootout victory at Kingston.


Osmanski's marker gives him three points in eight games. A season ago, he produced eight points (2+6) in 55 games.

In the WHL, Vojtech Budik logged a minus-two rating with one shot on goal as Prince Albert fell short 2-1 against Regina. Budik has one goal and one assist through seven games.

In NCAA action, Casey Mittlestadt showed flashes of brilliance en route to recording four shots on goal as Minnesota was defeated on home ice by Penn State 3-1. Brett Murray finished with an even rating in limited minutes for the winners. The clubs will play it back on Sunday.

Linus Weissbach scooped up a turnover and set up a goal as Wisconsin won at Boston College 5-2. Casey Fitzgerald was a minus-3 with two shots on goals for the losing side, while Christopher Brown finished minus-2 with three shots. The Badgers close the weekend Saturday at Merrimack. Next up for Boston College is a Sunday tilt at Providence.

Judd Peterson netted a pair of assists and Will Borgen added a single helper as St. Cloud State scored six unanswered goals to earn a 6-3 victory over Alaska-Fairbanks. The Huskies will go for the sweep on Saturday.

In Finland, Oskari Laaksonen has one assist as Ilves U20 edged Pelicans 3-2 in a shootout. The helper gives Laaksonen six points (1+5) through 15 games.

In Mestis action, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen allowed six goals on 33 shots as LeKi was defeated by Kettera 6-5. Luukkonen, who has started LeKi's last five games, has now lost two straight to drop to 4-2 on the year with a 2.98 GAA and .913 save%.

In the AHL, Linus Ullmark stopped 28 shots as Rochester was blanked by Utica 2-0. Nick Baptiste registered eight shots on goal, while Brendan Guhle produced five from his defensive post. The Amerks are off until Friday when they welcome Charlotte to town.
