10/17-20 Recap: Brown breaks seal; Defensemen contribute

Christopher Brown scored his first goal of the year Friday, and reigning Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week Casey Fitzgerald notched one assist as Boston College was defeated by St. Cloud State 5-2. Fitzgerald's assist gives him four points in as many games this season and keeps him tied for the team scoring lead.

Junior defenseman Will Borgen recorded two assists and Judd Peterson earned one helper for St. Cloud State. Borgen's two-assist effort was the fourth multi-point game of his NCAA career. Peterson' fifth assist ties him for the team lead in that category.

Sophomore reargaurd Jacob Bryson picked up a pair of assists, including one on the overtime winner, as Providence got past St. Lawrence 6-5. Bryson has four helpers through four contests, tying him for second among team point-getters.

Casey Mittelstadt earned an assist and a team-high four shots on goal as Minnesota edged North Dakota 2-1. The freshman has four points (2+2) through his first five collegiate contests.



Linus Weissbach recorded one shot on goal as Wisconsin dropped a 5-1 decision to Northern Michigan. Weissbach has gone two games without a point after capturing four in his first four games.

Brett Murray registered two shots on goal as Penn State fell to American International 3-2 in overtime. Murray, who went without a point in the Nittany Lions' 7-5 win on Friday, has one assist through six games.

In Finland, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 18 saves as LeKi downed Espoo United 4-1. The win improves Luukkonen to 6-2 with a 2.86 GAA and .912 save%.

In the OHL, Cliff Pu connected for a pair of assists as London ended their eight-game losing streak with a 5-1 victory at Kitchener. Pu has one goal and six points through 10 games.

Brandon Hagel notched an assist as Red Deer doubled Calgary 4-2. Hagel has earned a point in three straight games to boost his total to 13 (3+10) at the 10-game mark.



In AHL action, Linus Ullmark allowed four goals on 16 shots before getting the hook as Rochester was defeated 5-2 by Charlotte. Veterans Zach Redmond and Adam Krause got the goals for the Amerks, while Nick Baptiste provided three shots on goal.

On Thursday, Vasily Glotov scored his third goal of the year as Shawinigan earned a 7-6 overtime decision at Cape Breton. Glotov's goal gives him seven points in 11 games.



Austin Osmanski picked up one assist to extend his point streak to three games in Peterborough's 5-1 win at Windsor.

Marcus Davidsson saw his three-game point streak halted as Djurgarden fell to Karlskrona 2-1.

Victor Olofsson produced two shots as Frolunda edged Mora 4-3 in a shootout.

Rasmus Asplund recorded one shot on goal as Farjestad claimed a 4-2 win over Lulea.

On Tuesday, Olofsson scored the game-winning goal to propel Frolunda to a 3-2 win over Orebro.



Davidsson set up a goal for the third-straight game as DIF lost to Linkoping 3-2.


In the WHL, Vojtech Budik recorded an assist for the second straight game as Prince Albert lost in overtime 5-4 to Vancouver.
