9/30 Recap: Asplund seals win; Amerks click

Rasmus Asplund scored his third goal of the year into an empty net Saturday as Färjestad BK defeated Mora IK 5-2.

Asplund's marker came on his third shot on goal of the evening, giving him five points through his first four games of the season. He skated for 17:09 in the victory while winning six of 13 draws (46%).

In AHL action, Hudson Fasching broke a tie with 44 seconds remaining as Rochester closed the exhibition schedule with a 3-2 victory over Toronto. Colin Blackwell and Kyle Criscuolo also scored for the Amerks, while Linus Ullmark stopped 23 of 25 shots to get the win. Fasching and Criscuolo scored in each of the Amerks wins over the Marlies this weekend.

Victor Olofsson recorded one shot on goal in 17:33 of work as Frölunda HC fell to the Växjö Lakers 3-1. Olofsson has a goal and an assist through four contests.

Marcus Davidsson posted one shot on goal and won four of nine face-offs in 7:46 of work as Djurgården IF doubled Skellefteå AIK 4-2.

After backstopping his team to an opening-night victory, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen got the night off as LeKi dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to TUTO Hockey.

Oskari Laaksonen recorded a pair of minor penalties in 22:42 of work as Ilves U20 skated to a 3-2 overtime victory over Tappara.

Vojtech Budik collected one assist and a plus-3 rating as Prince Albert earned a 4-2 triumph over Medicine Hat. Budik has a goal and an assist through four games.

Brandon Hagel finished with a minus-1 rating as Red Deer fell to Moose Jaw 4-2. Hagel's three-game season-opening point streak came to an end in the loss.

In the OHL, Austin Osmanski punched one shot on net as Mississauga was bested by Owen Sound 6-4. Osmanski has one assist and seven shots on goal through his first four games.

In college exhibition play, Christopher Brown notched two assists and a plus-2 rating while serving as the top-line centerman as Boston College got past New Brunswick 4-2. Casey Fitzgerald logged an even-rating for the winning side.

Judd Peterson registered four shots on goal and Will Borgen recorded one shot as St. Cloud State steamrolled Regina 8-1.

Philip Nyberg produced one shot on goal as UConn defeated St. Francis Xavier 2-1.

Ivan Chukarov did not play as Massachusetts blanked Queens University 1-0.
