2/1 Recap: McNabb keeps pace as Ice freeze Hitmen

Brayden McNabb (+2) continued his hot streak Tuesday, posting a goal and two assists as Kootenay spanked Calgary, 8-0. McNabb’s power play tally, his 14th of the season, came when he snapped a wrister from the point through traffic. The 6’4 defenseman has 48 points this season, including a 16 (5+11) in his last nine games, while posting 13 multi-point efforts. The Ice (33-16-1-2) return to action Wednesday for a rematch with the Hitmen.

Mark Pysyk (+1) earned an assist as Edmonton doubled Seattle, 4-2. The assist gives the team captain and even 25 points on the year, eclipsing his previous career high of 24 set last season. The Oil Kings (24-24-0-3) will travel to Tri-City on Wednesday.

In the OHL, Marcus Foligno (-1) was unable to point as surging Sudbury rode the shootout to a 3-2 win over Sault Ste. Marie. The Wolves captain, who saw a four-game point streak snapped in the loss, dropped the gloves with Carson Dubchak in the third period for his fifth scrap of the year. The shootout victory was just the second outing without a point in eleven games since returning from the WJC. The Wolves (19-26-2-1, 7-2-0-1 in last 10) host Saginaw on Friday.
