9/14 Recap: MODO wins; Hurley gets on board at Fall Classic

Gustav Possler skated third-line minutes Saturday, finishing with a minus-one rating and two shots on goal as MODO opened the 2013-14 SHL regular season with a 2-1 victory over Vaxjo. Linus Ullmark served as backup to Anton Forsberg, who made 26 stops to earn the win.

At the USHL Fall Classic East in Indianapolis, Connor Hurley scored a goal and assisted on the game winner as Muskegon got past Cedar Rapids 3-2. Judd Peterson picked up a helper as the RoughRiders notched a goal with an extra attacker with under two minutes to play.

In Friday play, Cal Petersen stopped 20 of 22 shots as Waterloo edged Fargo 3-2 in overtime at the USHL Fall Classic West. Petersen returned to preseason work following after a four-game break as the battle for the backup role took place.
