4/10 Recap: Karabacek stays hot; McDavid pots five

Vaclav Karabacek scored his third goal of the playoffs Friday as Baie-Comeau opened the second round of the QMJHL playoffs with a 3-2 win over Val-d'Or in double overtime. Karabacek, who finished the night with six shots on goal, has connected for nine points through six playoff tilts. Game 2 takes place Saturday in Val-d'Or.



In the OHL, Nicholas Baptiste was shut out on the scoresheet but continued to demonstrate his three-zone game as Erie bested London 7-3. Erie's Connor McDavid ('15) scored five goals in the win over the Knights, who were playing without injured 100-point regular season scorers Max Domi and Mitchell Marner. The Otters take a 2-0 series lead into Sunday's Game 3.


In the USHL, Christopher Brown was unable to produce as Tri-City suffered a 4-1 loss at Dubuque. Brown has now gone 20 games without scoring a goal. He has five assists in 14 games since being dealt to the Storm.and a total of 37 points (13+24) in 57 league contests. Tri-City completes the regular season Saturday at Des Moines.

In AHL action, Dan Catenacci scored his 15th goal of the year as Rochester fell to Toronto 3-1. Andrey Makarov made 28 saves in the loss, while Jake McCabe and Jerome Leduc earned helpers on the Catenacci marker.
