11/21 Recap: Olofsson ends drought

Victor Olofsson snapped a 10-game drought Saturday with his fourth goal of the season as MODO dropped a 3-1 decision to HV 71. Olofsson one-timed a feed from the right-wing circle to make it a 2-1 game in the second period. Gustav Possler recorded two shots on goal while logging 18:48 of work for MODO, who gets back to work Tuesday versus Djurgrdens IF.

Jonas Johansson stopped 33 shots as Almtuna IS was defeated by AIK 4-3 in overtime. Almtuna held a 3-1 lead after two periods before AIK took control in the final frame. The loss evens Johansson's record at 10-10 with a 2.48 GAA and .911 save%.  AIS continues the schedule Monday against IF Sundsvall.

In the OHL, Eric Cornel scored an empty-net goal as Peterborough won at Sault Ste. Marie 3-0. Cornel's eighth of the year  extends his career-long point streak to eight games. The Petes are off until Thursday when they host Sarnia.

In WHL action, Brendan Guhle (-2) contributed four shots on goal as Prince Albert edged Regina 4-3 in overtime. The Raiders resume play Tuesday versus Calgary.

Devante Stephens logged a plus-three rating as Kelowna tripped up Vancouver 5-2. The Rockets battle Seattle on Wednesday.

Giorgio Estephan was whistled for a boarding minor as Lethbridge got past Saskatoon 5-2. Blades defender Brycen Martin saw his five-game point streak snapped in the loss. The Blades conclude their road trip Sunday in Calgary. The Hurricanes are off until Thursday when the host Kootenay.

In the QMJHL, Vaclav Karabacek went without a point as Baie-Comeau downed Halifax 4-0. The Drakkar have now won two straight contests on the heels of a 10-game losing streak. The Drakkar will look to keep it rolling when they visit Rimouski for a pair of games beginning Friday.

In NCAA action, Max Willman submitted one shot on goal as Brown was shut out 1-0 at Cornel. Brown returns to action Friday in an overseas tilt against Colgate at the Friendship Four tournament in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Cal Peterson earned his 12th straight start, making 13 saves as Notre Dame was defeated by Lowell 3-1. Connor Hurley picked up an assist in the loss. The Fighting Irish next face Harvard on Friday in the opening round of the Shillelagh Tournament.

Chris Brown punched one shot on net as Boston College doubled New Hampshire 6-3. Boston College gets back to work Tuesday at Connecticut.

Ivan Chukarov produced one shot on goal as UMass and Merrimack played to a 1-1 tie. The Minutemen kick off a home-and-home series with Quinnipiac on Friday.

One night after getting tossed from the game for an elbowing penalty, Anthony Florentino did not dress as Providence remained unbeaten with a 3-0 win over Northeastern. The Friars continue the schedule next Saturday versus Yale.

Judd Peterson logged one shot on goal as St. Cloud State dominated North Dakota 6-1. William Borgen finished with a minus-one rating for the Huskies, who visit Hudson Fasching and Minnesota for a pair of games beginning Friday.

In AHL action, Andrey Makarov made 31 saves and Phil Varone scored a late shorthanded goal Rochester was dealt a 5-1 defeat in Toronto. The Amerks return home Wednesday for a weeknight tilt against Syracuse.
