Sabres tab Satny for Rookie Camp

Czech goaltender Oliver Satny will be on the ice as a free agent invite when the Buffalo Sabres commence their 2021 Rookie Camp in September.

The 6-foot-1, 174-pound Satny won five of nine starts last season for Mlada Boleslav's UI20 club, along the way posting a 2.28 GAA and .922 save%. He also saw time with HC Slovan Ústečtí Lvi in the Czech Republic's second professional division, recording a 2-2 record with a 3.15 GAA and 914 save%.

The regular season body of work earned Satny's a spot on the Czech roster for the 2021 IIHF World Under-18 Championship. Following the U18s, Satny was selected in the second round of the CHL Import Draft by the Charlottetown Islanders of the QMJHL, where he is set to play the 2021-22 season.

The Sabres' goaltending pipeline remains thinner than they'd likely prefer. With collegiate players Erik Portillo (Michigan) and Devon Levi (Northeastern) unable to attend camp, the Sabres certainly needed a positional counterpart in camp opposite Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. Satny's availability gets him a ticket in the door. Now he'll look to pop on the radar that week and show the Sabres' staff that he is worth tracking when he heads back to Prince Edward Island.
