Crawford takes November honors

Barrie Colts defenseman Nick Crawford (2008, 6th round) has been named OHL Defenseman of the Month for November.

The Colts went 10-0 in November, the same month they acquired defenceman Nick Crawford from the Saginaw Spirt. The 19-year-old was named the OHL's defenceman of the month yesterday after finishing November with a plus-13 rating -- tied for the best rating in the league -- and recording points in eight of his 11 games in the month, including four multi-point games.

Crawford scored a goal and added three assists in his Colts debut, a 5-0 win over divisional rival Sudbury. He notched two goals and 13 assists in the month and entered last night with five goals and 27 assists for 32 points, second most among defenceman in the league.
The 6'1 native of Caledon, Ontario has quietly developed into a sound two-way player at the junior level since his drafting. A likely signing at this point, Crawford is currently being slotted for AHL duty next season. His ability to keep building strength while maintaining a consistently safe game will detemine how far he can achieve as a porfessional.
