The Wheat Kings take a 2-1 series lead with game #4 coming Tuesday at the MTS Center in Winnipeg.

Nathan Lieuwen made 41 saves to earn the game's #1 star as Kootenay was overcome late by Edmonton, 4-3. Mark Pysyk picked up an assist for the Oil Kings, who with the victory take a 2-0 series lead. Game #3 is Wednesday in Cranbrook.

In the OHL, Steven Shipley scored his third goal of the playoff as Niagara dropped a 6-4 decision to Ottawa. Shipley's tally early in the third cut the Generals lead to 3-2 as the teams would combine for six goals in the final frame. Brad Eidsness saw his college career come to an end as North Dakota was defeated by Minnesota 5-2 in the NCAA West Region final. Close to completing his Master's course work, Eidsness is on record as saying he'd like to play a few more years of hockey.
