2/17 Recap: McCabe gets helper in outdoor tilt

Jake McCabe notched an assist Sunday as No. 18 Wisconsin held on for a 3-2 victory over No. 2 Minnesota at the Office Max Hockey City Classic. The helper ups McCabe’s team-lead among defenseman to 12 points (2+10) through 26 games. Christian Isackson contributed an assist for the Gophers in the outdoor tilt, while Badgers sophomore Brad Navin was a scratch for a second straight game. Alex Lepkowski recorded a minus-one rating as Barrie lost to Brampton 5-3. The Colts, who enter the week leading the OHL’s Eastern Conference with 75 points, square off with Belleville on Monday with the Bulls just one point behind in the standings. In the WHL, Logan Nelson went without a point for the third straight game since returning from a lower body injury as Victoria lost at Edmonton 5-2. The Royals are off until Friday when they battle Kelowna. In the AHL, Nathan Lieuwen stopped 17 of 21 shots in his AHL debut as Rochester was defeated by Hershey 4-1. Veteran Patrick Rissmiller scored the lone Amerks goal, while rookie forward Zemgus Girgensons returned to the lineup after missing 10 games with a concussion.
