3/3 Recap: Makarov takes loss; Amerks win second in a row

Andrey Makarov made 34 saves Sunday as Saskatoon squandered a four-goal lead in the third period to suffer a 5-4 overtime loss as Moose Jaw. The loss snaps Makarov's franchise record 18-game winning streak. The Russian netminder came way out of his crease to play a puck in the first minute of the OT, but the gamble backfired, allowing the Warriors an empty net to house the game winner. Makarov was outstanding throughout the impressive run, amassing a 1.52 GAA and .952 save while collecting three shutouts. The Blades will get right back at it Tuesday when they host Calgary.

In AHL play, Mark Mancari, Luke Adam, and Maxime Legault (2) all scored while David Leggio made 38 saves for his league-leading 28th victory as Rochester doubled Lake Erie 4-2. Brayden McNabb added three assists for the Amerks, who will take a two-game winning streak into Friday's tilt with Abbotsford.
