12/11 Recap: Kea cashes shorty; Amerks ride vets

Justin Kea bagged a short-handed marker Wednesday as Saginaw smoked Plymouth 6-2. The goal, Kea's third shorty of the year and 13th overall, ups his season point total to 28 through 32 games. Saginaw returns to work Friday versus Peterborough.


In college action, J.T. Compher posted one shot on goal as No. 3 Michigan played to a 2-2 tie with No. 4 Ferris State. Compher will depart Ann Arbor for Minneapolis over the weekend for the start of Team USA's World Junior selection camp.

In the AHL, Jamie Tardif scored a pair of goals including one on a penalty shot, while Kevin Porter and Mike Zigomanis provided singles as Rochester downed Lake Erie 4-2. Matt Hackett stopped 16 of 18 shots to earn the victory, while Chad Ruhwedel contributed two assists. The two clubs will play a rematch outdoors on Friday as part of the 2013 Frozen Frontier Festivities.



In the ECHL, Colin Jacobs logged a minus-one rating and one shot on goal as Elmira dropped a 2-1 decision to Florida. The Jackals visit Wheeling on Thursday.

Jonathan Parker (-1) posted four shots on goal and was stopped in his shootout attempt as Colorado was edged by Las Vegas 4-3. The Eagles and Wranglers play a rematch on Friday.
