1/17 Recap: Ullmark shines; Kea connects

Linus Ullmark continued his stellar goaltending Friday, stopping 45 of 46 shots as MODO knocked off SHL front-runner Skelleftea 2-1. Ullmark now has 12 wins on the season with a 1.96 GAA (3rd in SHL) and a league-best .936 save%. MODO next hosts Vaxjo on Thursday.



In the OHL, Justin Kea scored two goals as Saginaw edged London 3-1. The two-goal night, his third such performance of the year, was capped off with an empty-netter in the game's final minute. Kea has 17 goals and 36 points this season. Eric Locke picked up an assist for the Spirit to extend his point streak to seven games, while Nikita Zadorov and Brady Austin (-1) were held pointless from the Knights blueline.



Nick Baptiste scored the only goal of the game as Sudbury edged Plymouth 1-0. Baptiste has marked in three of his last four contests, giving him a line of 24-28-52 in 42 games.



Justin Bailey was held off the score sheet as Kitchener was bested by Guelph 4-1. Draft eligible forward
Robby Fabbri scored his 28th goal of the season for the winning side.

In the WHL, Logan Nelson went without a point as Victoria got past Kelowna 3-1. Nelson had played in just two of the Royals' previous 13 games while nursing an upper body injury.

In NCAA action, Sean Malone notched a goal and an assist as Harvard was defeated by No. 12 Cornell 3-2. Malone's third multi-point game of the year gives the speedy freshman four goals and 11 points in 17 games.



Christian Isackson recorded two shots on goal as No. 1 Minnesota defeated Ohio State 1-0. 

Anthony Florentino and Mark Adams both remained out of the lineup with injuries as No. 7 Providence played to a 2-2 tie at Colorado College.

In the USHL, Cal Petersen made 17 saves to earn his ninth-consecutive win as Waterloo held on for a 4-3 victory at Youngstown. The Phantoms appeared to tie the game late in the third period, but the goal was disallowed after it was ruled that it was tipped past Petersen with a high stick. Petersen improves to 20-2-1 on the year, with a 2.48 GAA and .916 save%. The 20 wins are most in the league.

Connor Hurley picked up a goal and an assist as Green Bay lost to Cedar Rapids 4-3. Hurley has seven points (4+3) in seven games since being traded to the Gamblers from Muskegon. Judd Peterson finished with a plus-two rating for the RoughRiders.

In AHL action, Phil Varone (1+1) and Johan Larsson (0+2) each posted multi-point games, and Matt Hackett made 31 saves as Rochester earned a 4-3 victory at Oklahoma City. Dan Catenacci tied the game 2-2 in the middle frame with his fifth goal of the year. Jamie Tardif gave the Amerks a late 3-2 lead on the power play. Colton Gillies provided an empty-netter before the Barons would get one back in the final minute.



In the ECHL, Shawn Szydlowski was minus-one as Fort Wayne lost to Elmira 5-3. Komets backstop Andrey Makarov remained on the sidelines with an upper-body injury sustained last Wednesday.

Connor Knapp was given the night off as Greenville lost to Wheeling 5-2.
