2/15 Recap: Larsson scores, gets boot

In Saturday action, Johan Larsson scored his seventh goal of the year as Rochester lost at Utica 2-1. Larsson, who has 20 points (5+15) in his last 15 games, was tossed from the game with 5:32 left in regulation after arguing with the officials. Matt Hackett made 25 saves in defeat for the Amerks, who close a three-game weekend Sunday when they host Texas.

In NCAA action, Sean Malone picked up an assist to extend his season-high point streak to four games as Harvard played to a 2-2 tie with St. Lawrence. The speedy freshman places third among Crimson skaters with 17 points (5+12) through his first 25 collegiate games. Harvard next takes on Yale on Friday.

Jake McCabe produced an assist as No. 8 Wisconsin skated to a 4-2 victory over Ohio State. The helper gives the junior defender an even 20 points (7+13) through 28 games. Brad Navin was a healthy scratch for the Badgers, who continue the B1G schedule Friday with the first of two games versus Michigan State.

J.T. Compher recorded five shots on goal as No. 11 Michigan was defeated by No. 2 Minnesota 4-1. Compher was unable to get on the score sheet but remains Michigan's leading scorer with 11 goals and 26 points through 26 games. The Wolverines host Penn State next weekend. Christian Isackson did not dress for the Gophers, who get a week off before hosting Penn State for a B1G set.

Senior defenseman Mark Adams returned to action for the first time since Dec. 20 as No. 9 Providence was blanked by Notre Dame 3-0. Adams, who missed the previous 12 games due in part to a lower body injury, finished the night with an even rating. Anthony Florentino sat out for the Friars. The freshman rearguard was minus-one with a hitting after the whistle penalty in the Friars' Friday tie with the Irish.

In USHL action, Cal Petersen made 28 saves as Waterloo dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to Sioux City. Petersen, who has now lost three consecutive starts after suffering only three defeats in his first 26 appearances, tops the league with 23 wins while carrying a 2.32 GAA (4th) and .920 save% (3rd).

Connor Hurley was shutout for the second-straight game as Green Bay fell to Sioux Falls 3-0. Hurley has captured 17 points (6+11) in his last 16 outings.

Judd Peterson remained out of action for the second night in a row as Cedar Rapids got past Dubuque 5-4. Buffalo Jr. Sabres product Andrew Poturalski notched a goal and an assist for the winning side.

In the WHL, Logan Nelson registered an assist as Victoria edged Prince Albert 5-4. Nelson has 19 goals and 45 points through 47 games, setting the stage for him to achieve the 20/50 benchmarks by the end of the month.

In the OHL, Eric Locke recorded an assist as Saginaw lost to Guelph 6-4. Locke has been a steady producer all year en route to collecting 46 points (18+28) in 36 games.

Justin Bailey has a minor injury and did not make the trip as Kitchener dropped a 2-1 overtime decision at Plymouth. Bailey's 25 goals and 43 points are tops among Rangers skaters.

In the ECHL, Andrey Makarov allowed four goals on 36 shots as Fort Wayne was defeated by Kalamazoo 5-2. Makarov slips to 13-8-2-2 on the year with a 2.74 GAA and .910 save%.

Connor Knapp stopped 27 shots as Florida lost in a shootout 2-1 to Greenville. Knapp has won once in seven starts since joining the Everblades, who despite the loss remain in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
