2/6 Recap: McCabe's winner ends Gopher roll

Jake McCabe scored the game winning goal Thursday as Wisconsin ended Minnesota's 14-game unbeaten streak with a 2-1 victory in Madison. The third-year defender atoned for an earlier turnover with a solid two-way performance the rest of the way, highlighted by a patient play that saw him get deep into the Gophers' end of the ice, corral a centering pass, and send a wrister past Adam Wilcox with 6:13 to play in regulation. The goal gives McCabe 19 points (7+12) through 25 games. Brad Navin (+1) recorded a shot on goal skating on the Badgers' top line, while Christian Isackson punched one shot on net for the losing side.

In the OHL, Eric Locke was unable to register as Saginaw was blanked 3-0 at Erie. Justin Kea remained out of action for the Spirit with a hand injury.

Nick Baptiste missed his second-straight game due to an upper body injury as Sudbury was blanked 2-0 by North Bay.

In Sweden, it was Linus Ullmark's turn to sit as MODO dropped a 2-1 decision to Frolunda.
