The talented pivot has recorded 12 points in four March tilts to elevate his season line to 14-21-35 through 20 games. The Remparts currently sit sixth overall in the QMJHL standings with three games remaining.
William Carrier finished with six shots on goals and his first fighting major of the year as Drummondville downed Victoriaville 3-2. Carrier's three-game point streak came to a halt in the victory, leaving him with 20 goals and 61 points with just two games left on the schedule. The Voltigeurs are currently in seventh place in the QMJHL standings, one point behind Grigorenko's Remparts.
Justin Kea (-1) and Eric Locke (-2) were unable to crack the score sheet as Saginaw dropped a 3-1 decision to in-state rival Plymouth. With a playoff spot already reserved, the Spirit currently occupy sixth place in the Western Conference standings with three games left to play. They'll play a home-and-home with West Division leader Sault Ste. Marie before completing the schedule Saturday at home versus London.
In the AHL, Phil Varone notched a three-point night with a goal and two assists as Rochester lost in overtime 5-4 to Oklahoma City. The Amerks took a 4-2 lead into the final frame, but ran out of gas playing the final stage of a three-games-in-three-nights run. Colton Gillies, Kevin Porter, and Luke Adam also scored for Rochester, while Rasmus Ristolainen contributed a pair of assists. Matt Hackett made 27 saves to lose his fourth consecutive start.
With the game tied 4-4 with less than two minutes to play in regulation, Joel Armia forced a turnover, took the puck to the net, and received a two-handed slash while getting his shot attempt off. The slash did not earn a penalty.
