Compher contributes in exhibition

Monday was quiet with just one Sabres prospect taking part in an exhibition contest.

In Ann Arbor, J.T. Compher scored a goal and added an assist as No. 9 Michigan defeated the USA Under-18 Team 7-4. Compher's goal came in the final minute of the opening period when he corralled a faceoff win and quickly fired the puck past Luke Opilka ('15) to give the Wolverines a 3-1 lead. Michigan outshot Team USA 41-18 on the night, with Compher contributing three of his own.

Compher spent two seasons with the National Team Development Program prior to enrolling at Michigan, capturing 18 goals and 50 points in 52 games in 2012-13 before leading Team USA with seven points at the U18 World Championship.

Michigan will play one more exhibition contest Thursday versus Wilfred Laurier before resuming the non-conference schedule the following weekend versus New Hampshire.
