12/9 Recap: Bailey bangs in 16th, Reinhart streak ends

In Tuesday action, Justin Bailey ended a recent slump with a goal and two assists to earn the game's number two star as Kitchener downed Erie 7-4. Bailey, who recorded just one goal in his previous seven outings, posted his fifth three-point effort of the season to extend his team-leading total to 33 (16+17) through 27 contests. Erie winger Nick Baptiste notched a pair of secondary helpers in his final game before heading off to Canada's World Junior selection camp, giving him five points (2+3) in seven appearances since joining the Otters. Erie has now lost three straight games.


In the WHL, Sam Reinhart saw his 14-game point streak come to an end as Kootenay was defeated by Medicine Hat 4-1. Reinhart has led the way with eight goals and 27 points in his first 15 games with the ICE, who were defeated in back-to-back contests for the first time in six weeks. Reinhart will now leave his club for the next month to join Team Canada for the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.

In NCAA action, Anthony Florentino (-2) produced two shots on goal as Providence edged Colgate 4-3. Senior defenseman Mark Adams finished with an even rating for the Friars, who enter the holiday break with a 9-6-1 record.

In Swedish junior action, Jonas Johansson stopped 10 of 13 shots before getting pulled midway through the second period as Brynas IF lost to VIK Vasteras HK 6-5. Brynas took a 2-0 lead early in the second period, but then Johansson allowed three goals in a span of 6:04 before getting relieved. Johansson is 2-3 with a 3.81 GAA and .872 save% in six J20 starts.
