1/14 Recap: Bailey trick helps Hounds

Justin Bailey notched a hat trick in his Sault Ste. Marie home debut Wednesday as the Greyhounds smoked Saginaw 12-5. The hat trick, Bailey's third of the season and fourth of his OHL career, gives the Williamsville native 48 points in 39 games this season. His 27 goals place seventh among OHL scorers. Jean Dupuy picked up two assists and a plus-four rating for the Hounds, who have won all four games since acquiring Bailey last week.



Sam Reinhart scored a late goal from the slot as Kootenay was defeated 4-3 at Moose Jaw. Trailing 4-2, Reinhart took a pass from Tim Bozon (MTL) from behind the net and quickly got a shot off in traffic for the goal. The World Junior hero has connected for nine goals and 29 points in 18 WHL contests.

In Sweden, Jonas Johansson made his return with 33 saves on 35 shots as Brynas IF J20 defeated AIK J20 3-2 in a shootout. Johansson last played Dec. 9, when he left a SHL contest midway through the second period with an injury that ultimately forced him out of the 2015 World Junior Championship.

In AHL action. the Rochester Americans overcame a three-goal deficit to post an exciting 6-5 come-from-behind victory at Texas. Johan Larsson scored the game-winning goal with 1:33 remaining in regulation to clinch the win. Tim Schaller (2+1) and Mikhail Grigorenko (1+2) led the way with three-point nights. Brayden Irwin and Jerome Leduc provided single markers, while Andrey Makarov stopped 20 shots to get the win. Jake McCabe and Daniel Catenacci each had two assists.

On Tuesday, Anthony Florentino recorded one assist as Providence was defeated at New Hampshire 2-1. The sophomore defender has four of his eight points in his last six games.

Vaclav Karabacek left in the first period with an apparent lower body injury as Baie-Comeau skated to a 5-3 victory over Victoriaville. The Czech winger has three points (1+2) in six appearances since being dealt to the Drakkar.

On Sunday, Nick Baptiste scored his 15th goal of the year plus an assist to earn the game's number two star as Erie bested London 5-3. Baptiste has 30 points (15+15) in 28 games between Erie and Sudbury.
