1/31 Recap: Ullmark victorious; Martin steps up

Linus Ullmark stopped 34 of 37 shots and picked up an assist on an empty-net goal as MODO skated to a 5-3 victory over Linkoping HC. Ullmark has nine wins with a 3.12 GAA and .907 save% through 26 appearances. Gustav Possler and Victor Olofsson each produced an assist in the win. Possler enters February as MODO's second-leading point-getter with 20 (9+11). Dressing as the 13th forward of late, Olofsson has 18 points (10+8) in 37 games.

WHL

Brycen Martin scored his fifth goal of the season and added a pair of assists to earn the game's number one star as Saskatoon pitched a 4-0 shutout of Swift Current. Martin is excelling in a leading role since his trade to the Blades, producing three goals and 10 points in his first nine games with his new club. He has points in four straight.

Sam Reinhart saw his 10-game point streak snapped as Kootenay was upended by Kelowna 5-1. Reinhart has earned a point in 24 of 27 games this season en route to posting 12 goals, 29 assists, and a plus-12 rating.

OHL

Brendan Lemieux scored his 33rd goal of the year and added one assist as Barrie doubled Niagara 6-3. In the third period, Lemieux pounded a one-timer from the slot for his 20th power play marker of the season and the game's final goal.

Justin Bailey (+2) notched two assists as Sault Ste. Marie smoked Mississauga 7-1. Through 10 games with the Greyhounds, Bailey has accumulated 16 points (7+9) and a plus-13 rating to help the club to 10 straight victories. Jean Dupuy missed the game after getting dinged up in Friday's victory over North Bay.

Eric Cornel saw his five-game point streak snapped as Peterborough was defeated by Ottawa 4-2. Cornel enters February with 37 points (12+25) in 45 games. Travis Konecy ('15) led the way with a goal and three assists for the 67's.

QMJHL

Vaclav Karabacek picked up one assist as Baie-Comeau squeaked past Halifax 2-1. The helper gives the Czech winger 30 points (13+17) in 42 games between Gatineau and Baie-Comeau.

NCAA

Christian Isackson scored his second goal of the year as Minnesota and Wisconsin played to a 4-4 tie. Isackson also scored a beauty in the shootout but the Badgers came away with the extra point. Gophers forward Hudson Fasching was unable to get on the score sheet, while Brad Navin posted two shots on goal for the Badgers.

Connor Hurley (-1) produced one shot on goal as Notre Dame snapped a three-game skid with a 5-3 victory over New Hampshire. Cal Petersen got the night off after starting nine of the last 10 tilts for the Fighting Irish.

Judd Peterson (+1) recorded three shots on goal as St. Cloud State earned the weekend sweep with a 6-1 win at Colorado College. Petersen has three goals and five points in 26 collegiate games.

Max Willman contributed three shots on goal as Brown played to a 3-3 tie with Princeton. Willman has one goal and one assist in his first 20 collegiate contests.

USHL

Christopher Brown did not play as Green Bay dropped a 1-0 overtime decision to Chicago.  The Gamblers have lost eight straight games. Brown has gone without a goal in his last nine outings, but still remains the team leader with 12 in 36 games.

 AHL

Jake McCabe scored his third goal of the year as Rochester came up short in a 3-2 loss at Adirondack. Brayden Irwin added a late tally plus an assist for the Amerks, who were missing the offensive skills of Zac Dalpe (upper), Mikhail Grigorenko (lower) and Johan Larsson (illness).

ECHL

Justin Kea fired five shots on goal and Colin Jacobs logged a fighting major as Elmira was blanked 3-0 at Indianapolis. Kea and Jacobs each have four goals and nine points in 30 coast league games.
