3/4 Recap: Baptiste cruising; Amerks fall in shootout

Nicholas Baptiste scored his 27th goal of the year Wednesday and added a pair of assists as Erie blew past Barrie 10-5. Baptiste has been on fire of late with points in seven straight games. He has three of more points in four of his last five contests for the most productive five-game span of his junior career (5+9). Draft star Connor McDavid extended his point streak to 25 games with two goals and five total points to earn the game's first star.

In the WHL, Brycen Martin finished with a minus-one rating as Saskatoon was defeated by Edmonton 5-2. Martin, who has gone without a point in his last five games, remains with 37 points (7+30) through 63 games.

In the AHL. Mikhail Grigorenko scored his 11th goal of the year but it was Matt Hackett who stole the show with 36 saves, many of the spectacular variety, as Rochester fell in a shootout to Utica 3-2. William Carrier assisted on both Amerks tallies. Brodie Reid supplied the other Amerks marker.



On Tuesday, Linus Ullmark was perfect through 56 minutes, but allowed three late goals in a span of 55 seconds as MODO held on for a 5-3 win over Orebro HK. Ullmark finished the contest with 29 saves. Gustav Possler notched one assist for MODO, while Victor Olofsson skated just for in his return from his loan to Timra IK of the Allsvenskan league.

Eric Cornel assisted on his team's only goal as Peterborough was outgunned by Owen Sound 5-1. Cornel has 48 points (13+35) this season, but has just one goal in his last 15 games.
