Sabres goaltending prospect Jonas Johansson kicked off the 2015-16 Allsvenskan season Saturday with a 22-save performance as Almtuna IS suffered a 3-2 loss on the road at Asploven HC.
Johansson, who is on loan to the second-tier league from Brynas IF for the entire season, captured his first victory of the year Tuesday as AIS held on for a 2-1 decision over Leksands IF. Johansson carried a shutout into the 54th minute of regulation in front of the hometown crowd before allowing an even-strength tally.
Johansson and Almtuna will continue the schedule Thursday with a visit to IF Bjorkloven before returning home for a Saturday tilt versus Vasteras.
