2/13 Recap: Fasching doubles up; Irish duo produce

Hudson Fasching scored a pair of goals Saturday, including his third short-handed marker of the season, and added an assist to guide Minnesota to a 4-3 win over Ohio State and a sweep of the B1G series. Fasching's fifth two-goal game of the season gives him 33 points (18+15) in 29 contests for the Gophers.

Cal Petersen made 40 saves and Connor Hurley scored his fifth goal of the year as Notre Dame swept Maine with a 5-1 win. Petersen, who saw his shutout bid snapped with 2:49 left in regulation, improves to 18-5-7 with a 2.06 GAA and .932 save%. Hurley connected for points in three straight games during a five-on-three power play when he rotated from the point down to the side of net to bat in a rebound. Hurley has five goals and 15 points in 29 games, eclipsing the four goals and 14 points he notched in 41 games a season ago as a freshman.

Sean Malone potted his sixth goal of the year from between the hash marks as Harvard downed Union 4-1. Malone's power play tally gives him 12 points (6+6) in 22 contests.

Jason Kasdorf continued to see a lot of rubber, stopping 32 of 34 shots as RPI dropped a 2-1 overtime decision at Dartmouth. Kasdorf sits at 9-9-4 with a 2.09 GAA and .937 save% with just four regular season dates remaining on the schedule.

Chris Brown logged a minus-two rating as Boston College and Merrimack played to a 5-5 tie. The freshman forward has skated in 30 games for the Eagles, amassing two goals, nine points and 27 shots on goal.

Anthony Florentino was scratched from the lineup as Providence completed the home-and-home sweep with a 3-2 win at Connecticut. The absence was Florentino's fifth of the season, leaving the defender with five goals, 10 points and a plus-13 rating through 25 contests.

Ivan Chukarov recorded one shot on goal as Massachusetts was doubled by Northeastern 4-2. The freshman rearguard has collected seven points (2+5) and 32 shots on goal through 31 games.

Eric Cornel piled up three assists to help Peterborough earn a 4-3 overtime victory at Hamilton. Cornel's big night vaults him to 62 points (24+38) through 53 games, equaling his previous career best set in 2013-14.

In the QMJHL, Vaclav Karabacek supplied one shot on goal as Moncton was defeated by Acadie-Bathurst 4-3. Karabacek has 11 goals and 21 points in 34 games, including five points (3+2) in 11 outings since joining the Wildcats.

Devante Stephens finished with a plus-two rating as Kelowna skated to a 6-4 victory over Prince George. The shutdown defenseman, who failed to produce an even rating in his previous eight games, has collected two goals and eight points in 57 games.

Brycen Martin finished the night with an even rating Everett was blanked by Victoria 3-0. The fourth-year rearguard has 33 points (5+28) in 56 appearances with Saskatoon and Everett.

In the AHL, Nathan Lieuwen made 23 saves as Rochester was shut out for the second straight day by Albany 3-0. Jack Nevins, Patrick Kaleta and Justin Kea all logged fighting majors for the Amerks.
