2/26 Recap: Fasching pounds one in OT

Hudson Fasching smoked a one-timer for the overtime game-winner Friday to propel Minnesota to a 3-2 victory over Michigan. In the first minute of the extra session, Fasching wheeled into open space and got all of a Tommy Novak feed, beating Buffalo product Steve Racine from distance to keep the Gophers in first place in the B1G standings. The tally, Fasching's 19th of the year, was his sixth game-winning goal and second to come in overtime.

Connor Hurley connected for a power play goal, and Cal Petersen finished with 21 saves as Notre Dame was defeated by Boston University 3-2. Hurley now has six goals and 16 points in 32 games. Petetrsen has lost three straight starts.

Anthony Florentino recorded a helper in his return to action as Providence downed UMass 4-1. Florentino had missed the previous three games with an upper body injury. Massachusetts defenseman Ivan Chukarov finished with an even rating in the loss.

Jason Kasdorf made 23 saves as RPI lost to Colgate 2-0. The senior netminder falls to 10-11-4 on the season with a 2.16 GAA and .934 save%.

Christopher Brown notched one assist as Boston College got past Lowell 3-1. Brown has played in all 33 games for the Eagles, amassing two goals and 10 points.

Will Borgen and Judd Peterson each recorded two shots on goal as St. Cloud State dropped a 4-2 decision to Minnesota-Duluth. The rivals will complete the NCHC set Saturday in St.Cloud.

Sean Malone missed his second game in a row as Harvard was defeated 2-1 at Clarkson. The Crimson wrap up the ECAC regular season schedule Saturday at St. Lawrence.

In the Quebec league, Vaclav Karabacek recorded one shot on goal in Moncton's 5-3 loss to Val-d'Or. The Czech winger has gone three games without a point.

In the WHL, Brendan Guhle picked up one assist as Prince Albert downed Regina 3-1. The helper gives Guhle an even 25 points (9+16) through 54 contests.

Devante Stephens had another strong defensive game as Kelowna edged Vancouver 4-3.

Brycen Martin logged an even rating as Everett lost to Kamloops 3-2 in overtime.

In Sweden, Jonas Johansson was called on to make just 14 saves as Almtuna IS earned a 3-2 victory over last-place IF Sundsvall. Johansson improves to 24-17 with a 2.39 GAA and .913 save%.
